Today, the #LACoFD LACoLifeguards held a graduation ceremony to commemorate the success of Ocean Lifeguard Academy 36. 32 candidates successfully completed the 16-day rigorous academy, graduating as Ocean Lifeguards and are now eligible to work across LACo beaches. Congrats!🎉

**UPDATE** Forward progress stopped on the #TunaFire with 50% containment.

Tonight, 82 members of the LACoFD’s USAR team are being deployed as USA-2, requested by the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance. They are headed to Turkey to help with life-saving assistance, joining USA-1 from Fairfax Co., VA.

.VA-TF1 / USA-1 - Urban Search and Rescue & LACoFD search-and-rescue crews are in the air and will soon join the rest of our USAID disaster team in #Türkiye. This is their 20th deployment with us overseas, including earthquake responses in Haiti, Nepal, & Mexico. They’re ready to save lives again.

Fire on Santa Maria Rd near Mulholland is spotting in multiple locations. Last report was initial fire at 1/2 acre. No structures threatened. Air resources on their way.

Tropical storm Hilary became a Hurricane early Thursday morning. The storm is expected to bring potentially significant impacts to SoCal. Including rainfall, high winds, and increasing swell for South and South East facing exposures.   Stay alert to conditions
