File over app File over app is a philosophy: if you want to create digital artifacts that last, they must be files you can control, in formats that are easy to retrieve and read. Use tools that give you this freedom. File over app is an appeal to tool makers: accept that all

I love tailwind for its ability to let me be creatively fluid. Being able to prototype a full component's style in the time it would take to create an empty CSS file is magical. Reusability is the job of the app's architecture (reusable atomic components)

Happy birthday to one of my favourite games of all time! This is the game I recommend to people who've never played a video game before. An intensely beautiful experience with very little reliance on established gaming tropes/affordances.

I'll be on a panel discussing AI storytelling tomorrow! Sign up / tune in if you'd like to hear me wax lyrical about our conversational ornament Vision Pro app 'Wisp World', socially-aware, conversational software, and the future of persistent+spatial+embodied computing!🤩

Everyone's frekaing out about this vidoe, but it reminds me of Brian Eno: "Whatever you now find weird, ugly, uncomfortable and nasty about a new medium will surely become its signature." What I want out of AI art is less perfect, souless slop, and more freaky monstrocities! :D

If this level of disproportionality was in favor of the right, everyone on the left would be decrying the failure of democracy in the UK (e.g. Hilary Clinton winning the popular vote back in 2016) Instead, all I seem to be seeing is people gloating? Preferential voting please! 🥲

Premature abstraction is WAY more prevalent and worse than premature optimization and really handcuffs code bases for years and years.

I am currently playing with different materials that are further from my usual style. Here I tried to create a ribosome to look like kelp 🌱 or something you would find in the sea. Structure imported using #molecularnodes and image is rendered with Blender 🔶 #sciart #b3d

Some initial research formalizing an intuition that everyone's had all along: the radius of the ouroboros is slowly shrinking 🐍 nature.com/articles/s4158…

Can't emphasise this enough. I remember the visceral misery I felt after realising that a script tag at the bottom of the document contained the exact object I had spent all day recreating - plus a bunch of extra data that wasn't exposed anywhere in the page's markup.

Going to try a thing where, if I want to look at Twitter, I need to post something or reply to something. I absolutely hate posting and replying, so hopefully this can simultaneously get me looking at Twitter less, and posting more.
