Questions I ask myself when I notice I’m procrastinating: 1) “Why am I avoiding this?” (Is it boring? Am I anxious? Confused on what to do next? Afraid of failure?) 2) “What’s it gonna take to get me to do it?” 3) “How good am I gonna feel when it’s finally done?”

in other “having a new job” news i got a “cappuccino” from our “coffee” machine, it was so disgusting i think it may actually constitute an action of aggression against the nation of Italy

TIL about Ben Barres, renowned neurobiologist & first trans member of the National Academy of Sciences!! Reading about his life, his work, and his mentoring is extremely moving. How can we lbgtq+ scientists keep his legacy alive?

I’ve hired a few people in my time. I’ve never been disappointed by hiring someone who is less technical but is a great human who cares for others. I can teach tech pretty easily. But boy have I seen people who are strong technical people with toxic attitudes destroy a team.

So incredibly proud and excited to debut the first issue of Ginkgo's annual magazine, Grow. Synthetic biology is beautiful, complex, messy, and full of what if's. We wanted to create a brand that showed people that.
