Great to join finale of week-long Urban Wild festival on Sunday. 🌿 Huge thanks to Southampton National Park City for shining a light on our city's green/blue spaces. These spaces are the jewel in our city's crown, and I'm supporting efforts for National Park City status in Westminster. 🌳

This is welcome news for University Hospital Southampton 💙 and another step towards delivering on the promise we made before the election to create an NHS fit for the future. It will benefit patients and ensure that hardworking doctors, nurses and staff are supported to deliver the best care possible.

Lovely to see Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust in Westminster to talk chalk streams, and the importance of these precious habitats. 🐟 In support of local environmental groups, I am doing all I can to push for Southampton’s two rivers, both rare chalk streams, to be better protected. 💚

Retail crime is a big issue in Southampton- rising by 43% last year. It's crushing for businesses & puts hardworking staff at risk. I've been campaigning with UsdawUnion for change & we're pleased Labour's Crime and Policing Bill will put measures in place to tackle this issue.

Told off by the Speaker for being too enthusiastic about Southampton, I’ll take it! 💪🏾😂 Yesterday, on #WorldEnvironmentDay, I stood up in the Commons to put on record my thanks to Christelle Blunden and the legions of volunteers involved in the Southampton National Park City campaign. 🌳

💥 And today, Southern Water have had bonuses BANNED, after tough Labour legislation came into effect. They’ve paid themselves millions while damaging Southampton’s waters, particularly the Itchen at St Denys. We promised to stop profit from pollution. Today, we did it. 🌹

Southampton is a global leader in life sciences and research is a huge part of that. Amazing to see this new facility open today, it's in the heart of Shirley & accessible to the whole community, that's important as there is real need for people from all backgrounds to take part.

Great to have students from Regents Park Community College in Parliament last week. Pleased they got to look around, and ask me questions. I want every young person to believe the sky is the limit, and if someone like me from our inner city can end up in Parliament, so can they!
