Stop the video and tell me if you can locate the disk (I bet you can't). When even your eyes cannot identify cells in a still image, improving the segmentation method is pointless. A better approach is to use temporal information from previous frames and next frames.

It was a great pleasure to listen to max from Laboratoire Jean Perrin about ´Decoding crowding Dynamics in Monolayers of Motile Bacteria: DiSTNet 2D’ at Gulliver ESPCI Paris - PSL. This is the watercolor painted during the seminar and offered to the speaker.

I didn’t post it when it came out, but better late than never 😬 I’m happy to share the paper of my PhD work at Laboratoire Jean Perrin directed by Volker Bormuth. We used iron nanoparticles to stimulate the vestibular system through magnetic 🧲 field. Check it out Current Biology

Look at this amazing video! We injected iron nanoparticles in the inner ear of #zebrafish larva and by manually moving a magnet we evoked both vestibulocular reflex (VOR) and swim bouts! Zebrafish Rock! Laboratoire Jean Perrin Volker Bormuth

Our paper on nonlinear multimodal processing now out in PLOS Comp Biol (with Marcus Ghosh, Gabriel Béna and Volker Bormuth). TLDR: adding a simple nonlinearity to the classic model helps a lot, but only on tasks with more realistic temporal structure. journals.plos.org/ploscompbiol/a…

1/ Can a chemical reaction feel cold🥶? 🚀Follow me in our journey to design a spiking chemical neuron that mathematically ressembles & acts like a biological one. A thread on our Nature Chemical Engineering paper, for all DNA-nanotech, synthetic biology & neuron bifurcations lovers🧬❤️‍🔥🧠
