The results of the National Maternity Bereavement Experience Survey have been published. Watch our animation to find out what participants had to say about their experiences #CareExperience

National Care Experience Programme (@careexperience) 's Twitter Profile Photo

26% of participants rated their care as ‘fair to poor’, and identified a need for dedicated spaces in hospitals for grieving parents; more consistent communication across services involved in their care; additional supports for physical and mental health; and support for partners

Areas where care can be improved were also identified and these included clearer explanations, involvement in decisions and needs being acknowledged.

The study also found that: - Without exception, women are at the greatest risk of becoming victims of domestic homicide - This is most often perpetrated by a male current or former partner - New mothers & pregnant people are most likely to be killed by their partner #VAW

Additionally, the study said there is “a lack of empirical research on intimate partner homicide in the Irish context" & the most common risk factor for domestic homicide is a previous history of #DomesticAbuse
