Going back to Game 5 of the 1985 World Series, the Kansas City Royals have gone 27-9 in their last 36 postseason games. The Royals have not had a 27-9 stretch during the regular season at any point since 1985.

As the QB of the 1st Tri-Center playoff football team, and having covered probably more than 100 games in that UNI-Dome, I have to admit it’s pretty cool to watch the Tri-Center Schools run into the Dome for the 1st time. Good luck, boys!

The world is a lot less colorful now with the recent loss of Denny O’Grady and Frank Nelsen. True characters, but both worked incredibly hard in the name of young athletes. Cheers to you both. All the communities you served were very lucky.

Travis Hunter won Colorado’s 2nd Heisman, but CU nearly had another. My 4th cousin, Byron “Whizzer” White, finished 2nd in the 1937 voting. He was also a Rhodes Scholar and a U.S. Supreme Court justice. He played hoops for the Buffs, too, & led them to the finals of the ‘38 NIT.
