"If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, that is final." Silent Cal found the right words for the 4th.

Happy Fourth! I love this quote from a monument in Washington Square in Philadelphia: "Freedom is a light for which many men have died in darkness."

Today, we celebrate the 78th anniversary of Larry Doby breaking the AL color barrier. Facing the same challenges as Jackie Robinson, and debuting just a few months later, Doby's courage and bravery is more than worth celebrating. 👏 #GuardsBall

All should come out wearing 14 on #DobyDay. What is MLB going to do? Forfeit, fine, or penalize the team honoring the first Black player in the AL? Please.

Newark Eagles great, Larry Doby, broke the color barrier in the AL with Cleveland on 7/5/47. His pioneering role has only been celebrated over recent years. He was baseball’s Buzz Aldrin, the 2nd man to walk on the moon. Ironically, both Doby and Aldrin called Montclair, NJ home!
