Kabarak University VC Prof Henry Kiplangat gives his speech. He emphasises that the book, 'Judicial financial independence in Africa', is a testament to Kabarak University's commitment to advancing rigorous research in and of Africa.
The book editor and author of three chapter Conrad Bosire, PhD introduces the other authors and gives his inspiration for conceptualising the book. He speaks on the centralisation of the judiciary alongside the colonial baggage that still plagues the present judiciaries across Africa.
CJ Emeritus David Maraga gives the keynote speech highlighting that funds either limit or enhance judicial independence. Narrating his own experience, he states that financial staff in the judiciary were beholden to the executive thus showing the dearth of financial independence.
