With that, 2023 is coming to a close. It was a fantastic year academically, with finding out that my F30 grant has been funded and making very significant progress on my thesis project. I am overall excited for what is to come in 2024! Happy New Year!

I am excited for what the 3rd decade of my life has to bring! I was passed along a gift that my mom received when she turned 30 years old– a sweatshirt based on the show Thirtysomething. I am wearing it with pride, knowing she is looking down at me, wishing me a happy birthday!

I had the chance to take a break this weekend from working in lab and enjoy the amazing spring weather in DC 🌸. While it can sometimes be challenging to take time for yourself, rest is just as important as work when it comes to both productivity and living a balanced life!

Today marks 3 years since my mom passed away. I think about her every day and wish she could be here with us. She was my best friend and the greatest mom anyone could ever ask for. I love you always and forever, Mom!

I had a great time celebrating my lab manager’s wedding this weekend! Congratulations to Shaun and Fabienne; I wish you nothing but love and happiness! 🥰

While in Houston, I had the chance to meet bariatric surgeon Dr. Nowzaradan from My-600 Lb. Life. He is an inspiration to many people, and I’m so glad I was able to come to his office to meet him!

With presenting a poster/attending the #SLEEP2024 conference, going to an Astros game, checking out Space Center Houston, and walking along a boardwalk on the Gulf of Mexico, it’s been a fun few days in Houston! Until next time, Texas!

It was such a great trip to Colorado for the National MD/PhD Conference! Altitude sickness is no joke, but it was worth it to be able to explore the city, share my science with others, and network with other MD/PhD students from across the country!
