A Trump win means that workers may continue to die of heat without basic protection -- for at least another 5+ years. A proposed set of rules reaches a milestone in December but won't finish before Biden leaves office. My latest KFF Health News Al Jazeera PR kffhealthnews.org/news/article/p…

Border wall construction in southern Arizona's Pajarito Mts 4 years ago decimated the Mariposa Canyon watershed as well as jaguar & Mexican spotted owl critical habitat. The area remains in ruin today. Work crews continue to try to stabilize the site & the wall from collapse.

The exact formula of wildfire suppressants are trade secrets, proprietary to the handful of companies who make them. New research suggests those mixtures have heavy metals in them, contributing ~ 380,000 kg of toxic metals to the enviro between 2009-2021. pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…

This year, @ProPublica has been looking into the impacts of cities increasingly removing or “sweeping” encampments. We spoke with 135 people who had experienced sweeps. We also distributed notecards so people could write about it in their own words. 🧵

An amazing article from Jack Herrera on Puerto Ricans and Dominican Americans in Pennsylvania — it’s a fresh read that injects nuance into this conversation about Latino voters, which begs for specificity. Give it your time before election day. politico.com/news/magazine/…

Judd, you wrote: “In an interview with Popular Information, his first with any media outlet, Hermosillo said DHS's account was false.” Danyelle Khmara broke the story last week for AZPM. If we truly value independent journalism, give credit to local outlets.

Judd Legum emailed me Sunday—2 days after I broke Jose Hermosillo’s story—asking for help, promising credit. I helped. Today, he claimed he was first to interview Jose (4 days after my story). When I called him to say that’s not ok, he yelled, swore, then finally credited me.

Man takes credit for something he didn’t do and then yells at woman when called out 🙄 Awful integrity and response from Judd Legum 🍅🍅

Very disappointing, unacceptable behavior from a fellow journalist Judd Legum. (And odd for him to claim that he was first to interview Hermosillo, after AZPM, Arizona Daily Star and at least one New Mexico outlet already published stories with quotes from Hermosillo.)

Unfortunately, it’s shockingly common for outside reporters to follow up on local reporting without citing the original work. It’s even more egregious when a generous, well-sourced local journalist like Danyelle Khmara helps you out and you don’t credit her. How disappointing!
