Winter durum is in development for growers in western Kansas thanks to KSU Wheat Breeding. “What we’re doing is developing a winter variety of durum that could be planted in Kansas at the same time as we plant our common hard red winter wheats." bit.ly/2EC3jJE

Oh No! USDA wheat plots with the variety Guardian in Lane County, KS are reporting very high population of wheat curl mites..Some reports in western Kansas that Byrd and Avery are showing high wheat streak mosaic symptoms suggesting that mites are adapting to the resistance gene.
