Spot the difference.... delighted to take part in an interview on BBC breakfast this morning with my colleague. We are both Professors and Consultant ENT surgeons.....why don’t we get treated in the same way? #untitling #unconcious bias

Can't believe it was #IWD2023 just yesterday. YESTERDAY. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ Whenever anyone claims misogyny doesn't exist I'll just wave vaguely at this.

Tanya Dr Kara Thompson The Project All the gynae numbers are woefully underpaid for the risk, uncertainty and skill required. Nightmare endometriosis dissection requiring post fellowship training pays the same as a core orthopaedic procedure that every trainee is competent at on day 1.

If I can't have funding for a long consultation that covers lots of complex health issues, can I at least have a nuclear submarine to consult in?

📣 Folks with a history of breast cancer who are currently cancer free can safely take vaginal estrogen. There is minimal absorption into the bloodstream. It prevents UTIs. It treats painful urination & painful sex.

Our practice manager surprised us with her puppy today at work (on her day off!) definitely the best part of my day… think we should adopt a work doggo, patients would love it!!

If you asked me about greatest change over the 40 years I worked in the NHS I would say the loss of consultant autonomy. The horrifying story of the baby-murders at Chester and the management’s refusal to listen to the doctors is a ghastly culmination of this process.

An excellent example of giving positive feedback which in my opinion is not given enough! But what I love the most is the SPECIFIC feedback on what was well done. Too often supervisors just say to a trainee “great job” or “keep it up” #MedEd #Feedback

One time the ER sec accidentally paged me instead of neurology. I let the resident present on & on about stuff like headaches & CSF, yada yada. Then I told her I was urology. She asked why I let her give her whole presentation I said I wanted to see if I could help I couldn’t.
