it’s particularly satisfying for our U16 players and coaches (Moritz Kossmann | Yannick Sop | @krisbergman11 ) who are reaping the rewards of the hard work in training. Looking forward to seeing how our teams’ commitment to excellence in training is reproduced on game days!

Training Idea 7v6 attacking in a heptagonal field (7 sides) which is divided into 4 sections. Blue restarts with the ball and attack the goals at the top of the picture, while orange look to regain the ball and counter-attack to the goals at the bottom of the picture

In this weeks iDiski Times article I wrote about ideas around supporting forward passes. I take a look at why a forward pass isn't always automatically a good decision and discuss up-back-through combinations. There's also two practices that could be useful in training this.

Training reflection A popular them these days is diagonal and angled play. We had this interesting situation in our recent u16 training that I believe helps players understand the importance of this concept implicitly in practice. I'll use the two fields below to explain

In this weeks iDiski Times article I wrote about layering a training session that only consists of one main part only instead of the more traditional approach of a 3/4 part session. I give a practical example of how this type of session could be structured for a build up problem

In this weeks iDiski Times article I wrote about midfield diamonds and diamonds in possession as a general theme. I talk about why this structure is so conducive for ball progression, common combination patterns and rotations that can be done from the diamond as a base structure

Training Idea 2v2 into 6v5. The game starts on the sides in a 2v2. The attacking players look to play over the dotted line into the centre. When the ball goes into the final central area all players from the side as well as 1 attacker from the other side join to create a 6v5
