A gorgeous #Roman glass bowl, made from amber-coloured glass. It has survived in beautiful condition and despite being around 2000 years old, would probably not look out of place in a home today! #AncientGlass #RomanArchaeology (📷 Sotheby's)

This entire thread is so scarily close to my experience with writing this year (aside from moving) that it brought a lump to my throat. I wouldn’t want to wish it on anyone, yet there’s something comforting in not being alone in this awfulness.

I posted this back in the summer, but it’s far too Christmassy not to go back to! Be your own #Frockingfabulous gift in this Ann Lowe gown. #fashionhistory of the 1950s, via Whitaker Auctions.

Happy almost Christmas! This 1740-5 embroidered mantua from the V&A feels so festive. It’s extra special because we know who stitched it: the train is signed “Rec'd of Mdme Leconte by me Magd. Giles.” Leconte was a Huguenot embroideresses who worked in London in 1710-1746

#OnThisDay, Jan. 11, 1992. Host Rob Morrow/Musical guest Nirvana. Only a few months after Smells Like Teen Spirit fully drug us kicking and screaming into the 90s, Nirvana played on SNL for the first time. It would begin a long legacy between the show and Dave Grohl.
