100 years ago Bedfordshire CCC started their NCCA (National Counties Cricket Association) drawn match with @BucksCCC Beds leading wicket taker George Wharmby [501] played his penultimate game, 9 years after his last one, replacing Maxey. You’ll enjoy Goddy Cricket Simon Schultz

Three long standing Goddy Cricket reprobates in this one. Difficult to believe Elliott Baldwin was once of this frame!

On this poignant anniversary remembering Bedfordshire CCC & Bedford School cricketer Arthur Denis Bradford Cocks who perished at La Breche, Normandy. Denis, a Royal Engineers Lieutenant Colonel, was the first officer to fall on D Day. He's somewhere in this 1922 school 1st XI.

Sad to record the passing yesterday of former HuntingdonshireCountyCricketClub & Huntingdon DCC bat Nigel Froggatt at the grand age of 88 He’s pictured in the middle of the back row in a strong 1957 Huntingdon side Condolences to his family especially son Paul of Goddy Cricket

Your son David Roberts?

Hi Toby Bailey - I'm writing '180 Not Out' celebrating the history of cricket Bedford School CC which celebrates 180 years of cricket in 2025. Could you follow me so I can contact you regarding your playing exploits there? Many thanks Kevin

Researching Bedford School CC for an imminent book and ANDY CURTIS keeps on coming up in the Bedfordshire Times coverage usually in the OBM v OB fixture. Did you have your own photographer Andy? 😀

Afternoon David 'Bumble' Lloyd I know it's 53 years ago but can you recall your unbeaten ton at Bedford School CC and are you able to verify Clive Lloyd launched a 6 over the pavilion?

That’s a seriously assertive look Ian David Smith 😀

My next publication '180 Not Out' comes out in June and celebrates 180 years of Bedford School cricket from their first known match in 1845. Will feature a cluster of personalities including 2 Test cricketers & over 50 first-class players. Contact me if you'd like to know more!

Playing against The Don and the Australians on that tour for Hollywood was British film and theatre actor Henry Byron Warner a formidable all-rounder for Bedford School in the mid 1890s. Not many people know that 😄

46 seasons ago & Leicestershire Foxes 🦊 2nd XI just avoid coming a cropper v HuntingdonshireCountyCricketClub led by Bernie Facer, of Baronet bats fame, in a two day match. 7 to 11 in the Leics batting order included 2 Test players & 2757 first-class wickets. Yes, I know bowling figs aren’t in accepted format!
