PALM Island is renowned for producing quality rugby league players but what is believed to be a first for the Aboriginal community was a team of young islanders playing in a rugby union carnival.

The recreational fishers have received fines and were charged after rangers intercepted four separate boats in the Little Finniss River, and past the Finniss River closure line.

AROUND 500 people turned out for an evening of dance, music and catching up at the recent Mildura Corroboree on the banks of the Murray River.

Six dance groups competed for prize money, with Thuukalu Barkindji Traditional Dancers taking out the open prize worth $2,500!!
