Ready to present my poster at the Genetics Society meeting on TE regulation in Leicester! Pass by if you want to hear about cascades of TE invasions in flies 🪰

I'm very happy to announce that the MCHelper (tool for the curation of transposable element libraries) paper has finally been published in Genome Research! I will be happy to receive your feedback! genome.cshlp.org/content/early/…

Preprint alert #2. We used individual-based modeling and cool surrogate models to better understand P-element invasion dynamics in experimental Drosophila populations. Evolution, machine learning and SLiM for the win 🙂😎 biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

A phage gene encoding a DNase I homolog was horizontally transferred to a Drosophila ananassae ancestor 21 mya and is used against parasitoids. Rebecca Tarnopol put it into D. melanogaster and expressed in fat body. It moved humorally to wasp serosa just as in Dmel! tinyurl.com/2k9ypyxr

Super proud - our new work about two troublesome TEs spreading into several Droso species in just a few decades; it was so much fun to work with the amazing Riccardo Pianezza Almorò Dr. Sarah Signor rdcu.be/d5G1M

Our work is finally out! Two TEs that triggered a cascade of invasion after introduction to cosmopolitan species of Drosophila. Almorò Riccardo Pianezza Robert Kofler are such a pleasure to work with. nature.com/articles/s4146…
