I'd love to see Jimmy Carr meeting Tyson Fury in an alleyway and Mr Fury asking Mr Carr if he would like to repeat his joke! - when will people learn that things like gas chambers aren't funny? The world has had 80 years to learn.

Just seen the new James Bond film tonight and it is brilliant. The part that takes place in Santiago de Cuba resonated with me. I've been to that town and it is special if you love salsa. Thankfully no machinegun shootouts when I was there!

Last night I watched the 1933 'King Kong.' I hadn't seen it in a long time. Remarkable how much fun and entertainment there still is in a film that's 88 years old!

Just finished watching 'High Noon' this evening. Still one of the best Westerns and indeed best films ever. Gary Cooper will forever be immortal for that film, even if he had never done anything else - and he certainly did lots else!

I had forgotten that in 'Flying Deuces' - just like in 'Way Out West' - Laurel & Hardy do a little singing and dancing routine in the middle of the film. They could make anything funny.

So after all these years Messi is finally going to leave Barcelona. Wouldn't it be great if he came to Liverpool!

Just watched 'Sons of the Desert' on Talking Pictures TV. Totally hilarious stuff from Laurel and Hardy - one of their greatest ever. Thanks to them and thanks to that channel for these wonderful films!

What a joy it was earlier this afternoon to watch Laurel & Hardy in 'A Chump at Oxford.' One of their best and just the tonic I needed after the sombre day of my mother's funeral. Stan's change into an English lord is priceless!

Yesterday was my mother's funeral. It was a tough day but I'm so glad she got a church service, which was more than my father could have 16 months ago.
