When you’re driving to work & a car races past you at speed closely followed by another.... just as you’re thinking if only there were police around, the second car puts on their blue lights.....you never know whose watching 👀🚨🚔

Anyone else of the age when you feel you need a sticker chart for making it through the night without having to get up for a wee?! 😂

You know you’ve got the best colleagues when you return from annual leave and are greeted with a Costa coffee when you walk in the door! Thank you Charlotte Olive 😘

It’s days like today that have given me my @ name. 8 hours before our “lunch” break & a 12 hr shift that turns into 13 1/2. I’d like to say this is the exception but it’s turning into the norm & every time it happens it breaks me a little more. I’m no superhero, I’m only human

That scary moment you answer the phone to someone from NHS test and trace and think you’re about to be told to self isolate but instead get offered an appointment for the vaccine today 😅🎉

We in the NHS are no super heroes, we are just as vulnerable to the virus as everyone else. We are losing loved ones & colleagues who were just doing their job, we see death on a daily basis. We are exhausted. Is it really too much to ask people to wear a mask & stay at home!

The only certainty in any shift, is that the last job will sound simple enough to finish you off on time but turn into something super complex and time consuming! #paramedicproblems #sodslaw

I wonder how many other professions there are that when recounting how their day has gone, wouldn’t get raised eyebrows using the phrase “wrestled a naked man” #ParamedicProblems

I know we’re a strange bunch in the ambulance service and not much puts us off our food, but last nights crew mate says seeing someone vomit makes her hungry....now that’s just plain weird right??

You know you’re sleep deprived and hallucinating at the end of your nightshift when you say to your colleague “oh look ducklings, let’s go and take some pics” They agree, so you wander over only to realise it’s just pieces of metal 😂

Dog lovers will never understand the sheer fear as your “friendly pet” hurls their whole body, 17kg of pure muscle, at a phobic person to say hello. Jumping up to lick your face can seem so much more terrifying when you have a real phobia. Please shut your pets away when asked 🙏

What happened to self care? In an ‘instant world’ no one seems to be able to be unwell without a magic cure within a few hours. It’s killing the NHS! *Rest, fluids and paracetamol works wonders for a lot of ailments if you just give it a chance. (*obviously not in every case)

That confusing moment you attend a job for a bleeding wound, when you arrive it’s a fancy dress party and everyone is covered in fake blood making it very difficult to know how many patients you’ve actually got 😂

Resilience in the ambulance service, is it innate? Learnt from experience? Can it be taught? I’m seeing too many colleagues struggling, whether it’s from the relentless pressure, the sights we see,the things we hear, the decisions we make. Resilience is a necessity for longevity

I know we’ve spent a long time wearing masks but have people really forgotten the common courtesy of covering their mouths when they cough 🤷‍♀️ I’ve been to 3 patients today of varying ages with persistent coughs & potential for covid, & not 1 covered their mouth. Is this a thing?

When you’ve been awake 24hrs having worked the nightshift and someone tells you they’re exhausted because they didn’t sleep very well….

After 14 years honing my craft at the same station, today was my last shift. I’m moving into management at another station. Sadly had a lonely shift on the car and no one on base to say goodbye to when I left….sign off the times 🚑
