This happens often when we give a talk and get the audience evaluation back. 99% of the feedback might be positive. 1% of it is critical. We largely ignore the lovely comments from the 99%. We just dwell on the negative feedback. Life & work is like that too. It's why we need

Research by Korn_Ferry into the qualities of senior leaders into the future. They conclude that leaders will need to be more curious, humble, continuous learners and system/network players. The role leaders play will have both more & less control than ever:

Numerous issues flagged of grave concern. Pressure on unnecessary Medchecks, interference in clinical decision making, “sub-optimal care”, “ineffective use of health system resources”. I applaud the professionals that spoke out and the College for its extraordinary statement.

Let's be clear...

MORE medical students chose FM in the first round this year than last (1450 vs. 1361).
MORE FM spots were unmatched last year (268 vs. 253).
We have work to do. Especially in Ontario.
But let's celebrate the 1450 students who chose FM!

In 2022, Ontario data from CIHI_ICIS showed that of the top 10 reasons children and youth ages 5–17 were hospitalized, mental health issues took the first, third, fourth, and tenth spots.

Excellent news for northern/rural ERs: temporary locum program funding has been continued thru Sept 2024.

This top-up funding will help incentivize rural ER shifts to stay open, but we also need a long-term plan for northern health.

Thank you Ontario Medical Association Ontario Health
