When an adult sees a kid work overtime to win over a peer who is unkind to them, we may try to build them up or even criticize the other kid's character. But it's more effective to focus on both kids' behavior. Ask, "What are they doing that's mean? How can you protect yourself?"

We said “good bye” to a beloved KME Knights kindergarten teacher today, Miss Brown, who leaves us for an adventure outside of education. So many students have benefitted from her care & gifts, especially my own. ❤️ so grateful! You will be missed!

Getting back on schedule is hard! Sleep schedules are the most important as you start a new school year. Here is the recommended sleep schedule based on the hours needed by age! Remember anything less than 6 hours of sleep can create impaired brain functioning in children.

Last week we celebrated the annual #GreatKindnessChallenge with our KME Knights. One project was grade level collaborative posters with classrooms coloring the spaces to match the kindness they noticed & named throughout the week!

Trauma doesn't heal in weekly, hour-long therapy sessions. It heals in micro-moments with trusted, attuned, and regulated humans who care. Every aspect of the child's life, including school, needs to be a part of the healing. Hence, the need for trauma-aware education!
