For the first time in history, the United States has a sitting congressperson who is transgender. Congratulations to Sarah McBride, whose race was just called by MSNBC. She wins in a year where a historic amount of anti-trans ads were blared across TV screens in America.

First trans scientist feature is Lucas Kebow! He is a MSc student in the Bronson Lab at Cal Poly Humboldt studying the evolution of reproductive anatomy and biology of tube-snouts (Family Aulorhynchidae). Follow him @asderatiq on Twitter!

Second trans marine scientist is Sof Fox! Fox is a MS student studying environmental stressors in oysters at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. They prioritize community education and inclusion in their research. Follow them on BlueSky at soffox!

Third trans marine scientist feature is Marty McCamant! McCamant works with Western Snowy Plovers, monitoring their habitat along the Pacific Northwest coastline. His work contributes to conservation efforts of this endangered species. Follow him on Instagram at martyyryan!

Next trans marine scientist is Garrett Shipway! Shipway is studying environmental-based stress responses in elephant seals, and has a diverse background in mammals, endocrinology, and even botany. Throughout their work, they aim to create more inclusive spaces in STEM.

One last trans marine scientist! Allegra Recknor is a marine biology major at Cal Poly Humboldt and a volunteer in the Vertebrate Museum. They help prep dead animals for collections and research, and have also worked with MMERP in surveying local elephant seal populations.
