Great news! Here’s hoping eligibility rules will include many/most individuals living with FASD, which per CanFASD Research Network is by far the most common intellectual disability in Canada.

My ancestors (along with those of almost all Manitoba Mennonites) lived just outside this city up to the late 1700s. Then they moved to what was then called South Russia (now Ukraine) where they were for less than 100 years before coming to Manitoba.

Red River in Winnipeg is dropping FAST now. At this rate the River Walk will be back sooner than expected, along with the bike path under the Queen Elizabeth Way bridge.

There’s a good chance one of my ancestors crossed paths with one of JRR Tolkien’s ancestors. Tolkein’s great great grandfather, John Benjamin Tolkien, was born in Gdansk (then known as Danzig) in 1752. At that time, my ancestors were living near Gdansk as well.

Nice! Now we need City of Winnipeg to clean off the River Walk, and the bike paths on under the Norwood Bridge. Hopefully soon..?
