This is a heartbreaking day for so many across the country who care for nature, and especially for the local people and Traditional Owners who have fought so hard to protect this amazing place, and its wildlife much of which will now die. So much for ‘nature positive’.

Larrakia man Tibby Quall whose ancestors have taken care of Lee Point for tens of thousands of years, told Yahoo News it was “ridiculous” his people have now been locked out of their land so it can be bulldozed for a housing development.

I don’t know how the politicians can look kids in the eye and say, “I chose the profits of already-rich people and bulldozers over the likely survival of species that took millions of years to evolve.” I guess not many of them look a lot of kids in the eye, come to think of it.
