Our Australian Conservation Foundation study released today shows exactly why nature offsets are a high-risk policy mechanism that the Govt should not be banking on. And it shows how the fossil fuel industry is much worse than others when it comes to offsets, in important ways. π§΅

I donβt know how the politicians can look kids in the eye and say, βI chose the profits of already-rich people and bulldozers over the likely survival of species that took millions of years to evolve.β I guess not many of them look a lot of kids in the eye, come to think of it.
Bulldozers have begun clearing high-quality savanna woodland at Darwin's Lee Point, tragically erasing biodiversity and cultural values. Approval of this project highlights how broken our national environmental laws are.
