Every generation should read The Lord of the Rings and learn that men are allowed to show affection, that power corrupts, and that happiness does not come from being a ruler but from baking potatoes and snoozing in an armchair by the fire in your cosy Hobbit hole.

Rewatching The Hobbit recently made me think of this. I think it is the small acts of kindness and love that keep the darkness at bay.

As it’s #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek, ladies dressed in green for #WearItGreenDay. The theme for this year is Anxiety, as someone who suffers from this myself I know how debilitating and isolating it can be. Do reach out to your loved ones and check on each other.

I love this. I used to have this mindset in and post lockdown along the lines of, 'say the nice thing, we might all die', and I stand by it. Life really is far too short.
