Hello! My name is Marjorie Kilby and I am the school counselor for Goodman Elementary. I spent my Spring Break with my family and doing some shopping. #NSDedchat

A1: I renewed my energy by getting some MUCH needed rest! I spent some quality time with my family. My sister came to visit from Texas and my daughter was home from college. #timechangeisnotmybestfriend #NSDedchat

A2: I don't get on social media that often, but I can see how it is beneficial in keeping parents and staff in the loop of happenings. #NSDedchat

A3: Relationship building is the most important thing to me. My story IS told through the conversations of others. #NSDedchat

A4: Stakeholders are involved in many ways throughout the year. One of the best ways is through community events with the school. Including families has a big impact on the Goodman community. #NSDedchat

A5: Other than tweeting, facebook, phone calls, family nights, and home visits are the easiest way to share the great things happening at Goodman Elementary. #NSDedchat

A7: I think my biggest take away from tonight's Twitter Chat is FINALLY being able to use twitter in an educational way. This is a big step for me because it allows me to tell my story through social media. #NSDedchat

A1: imo, relationships are the MOST important part of classroom management. Students want, need, and deserve to be valued and loved. #NSDedchat

A2: I think I have an advantage when it comes to relationships within my role. Being their school counselor allows me time to get to know all students in the school on a personal level. Greeting them whenever I see them is an easy way for me to show them I care. #NSDedchat

A3: I believe something I have been successful at this year is being more visible within the school walls. It's been easy to do while at the middle school because it's a smaller setting for me to greet students on the daily. #NSDedchat

A4: If I could go back to Aug & change something, I would try to engage those kiddos who may have a tendency to "fly under the radar". Find students who may be fighting battles & could use an extra cheerleader in their corner. Finding those kids next year is my goal #NSDedchat

A5: You can make any space work for routines. Keeping it fresh & clean & inviting is my goal. Next year will be much easier for me since I will have 2 spaces to work in! #NSDedchat

A6: One of the most valuable book series I use is anything written by Julia Cook! Her books are amazingly awesome and super current on basic happenings in an elementary kiddo's life. I LOVE her! #NSDedchat

A7: Acknowledge those kiddos! Let them know that whatever they say matters. They need to feel valued. I think stopping everything else (even on the busiest of days) and listening to their words is the most important thing I can do. #NSDedchat
