It’s alive on BioRxiv! Super excited to present our paper on CRISPRi-based screens in 3D neuron-astrocyte-microglia co-culture (iAssembloids) to examine neuron-glia interactions. Description of this work in the thread below! Too many words! (1/8) biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

This is truly a tour de force I could not have been more proud to contribute to! Check out this truly immense and impressive work put out by the soon-to-be Dr. Littleton!

biorxiv.org/content/10.110… Super happy to announce the culmination of a super fun and interesting project! TL;DR we observed an inverse relationship between the metabolic profile and strength of the circadian rhythms in cancer cells; which could aid in therapeutic interventions.

We found that the rs7132908 obesity risk allele can switch an enhancer→repressor, modify nearby gene expression with FAIM2 consistently downregulated in multiple cell types, and decrease appetite-regulating neurons produced by ESC differentiation (2/4)

Dr. Sheridan Littleton (@sciencesheri) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Our hypothesis is that FAIM2 is required for normal appetite-suppressing neuron development/survival during childhood and decreased FAIM2 contributes to increased obesity risk at a young age (3/4)

Finally out! Check out our new paper in Nature Communication 10.1038/s41467-024-49596-0. In this new study, we established that microglia make their own TGF-β1 ligand to maintain brain homeostasis and cognitive function via autocrine signaling mechanism at a single-cell level!

At times like today, I am reminded why the work we do to make higher education equitable for minoritized scientists is vital. Over the next 4 years, we will see higher education face one of its most critical challenges due to an expansion of the anti-DEI laws as US colleges
