The subjugation of girls & women through #FGM must end now. We cannot continue to deny the lived harsh experiences of girls and women in the name of culture or religion and bury our heads in the sand about the threat that FGM poses to future generations of girls and #women .

To #endFGM we must unlearn and debunk the myths that have helped entrench it in our communities. #FGM is a form of #GBV and it is a #HumanRights violation.

We have a duty to continue campaigning to #endFGM and give girls a much needed chance at attaining #education for a brighter future for all of us and generations to come. #SDG3 #SDG4 #SDG5

We need more men to join the movement against #FGM and to be proud to work to #EndFGM . We must be able to talk to younger men about being allies in this movement. We have to support our mothers, wives, sisters, daughters and all females. FGM is our problem too.

In efforts to #EndFGM it's crucial to dispel myths that continue to justify the practice. One of those justifications are #religious beliefs. We need to work with the #faith community to prevent and stop the #HumanRightsViolations of girls and women in the name of religion.

LET'S BUST THE #FGM MYTHS: #FGM can pose a serious health risk including severe bleeding and problems urinating, and later cysts, infections, complications in childbirth and increased risk of newborn deaths. There are also mental health problems associated with it.
