Bizarrely, I seem to have relocated the Baird's Sandpiper again, at Aberlady this morning. Unless it's a different bird. Comparison of pics may confirm. Either way, it made the early start worthwhile. Birding Lothian

Two juv Little Stints showed nicely in the high tide roost at Aberlady this evening Birding Lothian

Juv Wood Sandpiper at Scoughall this morning. Also 2 Sooty Shearwaters N prior to 9am (& 2 Ruff, 2 Yellow Wagtails, juv Marsh Harrier). Two Mandarins still Seafield Pond this afternoon (have been present a week). Birding Lothian

It was quite something to have the Steppe Grey Shrike all to myself this evening, and have it repeatedly fly towards me. Many thanks to the finder. Birding Lothian

This Eastern type Stonechat was a nice surprise at Tantallon this morning. Looking forward to seeing Ian Andrews pics of the uppertail coverts, but appeared to be uniform orange. Birding Lothian

1cy Caspian Gull at Scoughall this morning with colin davison. Also Little Auk and Red-necked Grebe offshore (& Long-tailed Duck White Sands Quarry). Birding Lothian

Definitely not the most exciting of official Scottish rarities, but given it's been 28 years since I last saw one in Lothian it was still nice to find this drake Red-crested Pochard on Seafield Pond late afternoon. Earlier, 22 Little Auks N past Scoughall this am Birding Lothian

Other than a snowy backdrop, this (always quite distant) Grey Phalarope was the only evidence of Storm Bert’s passing at Musselburgh this afternoon. Birding Lothian

There will be better to come I'm sure given how well the White-rumped Sandpiper showed at White Sands this afternoon. Earlier, 1 Little Auk, 1 Black-throated Diver, 2 Great Northerns and 2 Red-necked Grebes off Scoughall with colin davison . Birding Lothian

I could only manage extreme record shots of the White-winged Scoter off Gullane Point this am, but at least it was something having been far too distant when first found last week. Birding Lothian

Both the drake White-winged Scoter still off Gullane Point this am (one to west, one to east). Also the 2cy White-billed Diver off the west end of Aberlady beach early pm (& 2 Black-throated Divers & 1 Great Northern) Birding Lothian

A White-winged Scoter this morning, with Eider off Yellowcraig, had a much-reduced eye tick compared to the recent Gullane birds so seems likely to be a second-winter? One ad drake WWS still in Gullane Bay late pm Birding Lothian

This smart Kentish Plover at the north end of the Tyninghame saltmarsh early afternoon 🙂 Birding Lothian

Drake Green-winged Teal new in on the Eskside lagoon at Musselburgh early am (& 2 Temminck’s Stints still) Birding Lothian
