QOTD...how many people learned in school what Juneteenth is? How many people still don’t know what Juneteenth is? No shame for those who don’t know but you have a little over a week to prepare. For the record, I never learned what it was in school...my parents taught me.

Just so we're clear, white people, firing Aunt Jemima & giving us Juneteenth off are not the frontlines of defeating white supremacy & dismantling structural & instutional racism. Better schools, a just criminal justice system, access to healthcare was more what we were thinking.

It’s not the racial slur that’s the most troublesome. It’s the silent acceptance by the other announcer. It’s far too many white people who are willingly complicit because they are unwilling to risk confrontation, being ostracized or their social position.
