I am shocked and deeply disturbed by recent gun violence events - first here in Arizona at the home of @DanielforAZ and Rep. @AlmaforArizona in Tucson, and now in Minnesota, where state legislators were hunted down and murdered.

For Daniel Hernandez, preventing gun violence is as personal as it gets. As a state legislator myself, after Minnesota, I’m heartened to know he will keep working in this arena to help make sure that the experiences he has lived through never happen to us. tucson.com/opinion/column…

Happy Independence Day! It was wonderful to be in Summerhaven, in the heart of District 17, for the Mt. Lemmon 4th of July parade. The community showed up! Almost a quarter century ago, we declared our independence from monarchy to create a republic. Let us resolve to keep it.

It is gut-wrenching to lose a child to gun violence in our community. My condolences go out to Daydrian's loved ones. May he rest in peace.

I was glad to join so many who donated to the back-to-school drive benefitting Youth On Their Own (yoto.org), which supports youth experiencing homelessness. With cuts to food assistance and health care coming, it's important to do what we can at a local level.
