Nick Castellanos is out of the lineup today because of an “inappropriate comment” he made after being removed last night’s game, Rob Thomson said.

Because you've made this personal. You yell and scream about him being lifeless. Then he shows a backbone- and you yell and scream. If Casty cursed him out in front of that clubhouse, he has ZERO choice

The point is that you constantly scream for accountability. He does it- and you are openly questioning it. This is the way a baseball clubhouse operates. Managers pick their battles. This is one with a player likely disposable at the end of the year that the manager picked.

Rob Thomson is always extremely reluctant to criticize players to the media. He's calculated his words carefully in his few instances of benchings. What does it say about Nick Castellanos that Thomson openly admitted an "inappropriate comment" from last night?

Hypothetical: if he called a teammate an awful MF in front of his teammates- that doesn't deserve a benching? Or put himself above the team- that's not justifiable? (And Pete- are we really friends?)
