When you name a species after a male, you end with "i," and for females "ae." But when scientists named an ant after an artist who identified as neither of those genders, they needed something else. So, they ended the name with "they." Meet Strumigenys ayersthey. Cool, eh?

Today for STEM outreach we visited the energetic, curious students at O’Neill’s True Colours club! 🌈 Frog dissections, robot painting, pasta Pisa towers and more! It’s an honour bringing LGBTQ2S+ representation into the sciences. EYES

On Dec. 16 I successfully defended my MSc thesis! The defence was equal parts challenging, inspiring, fun, constructive, and emotional. Can’t thank my committee enough for their contributions. More to share later, but for now I’m very stoked for a holiday (:
