Other than evolutionarily acquired instincts, nearly everything humans do is either largely socio-cultural imitation or stories they tell themselves and one another. Only a few individuals ever engage in the pursuit of truth, the understanding of reality, or the creation of

jack morris I have these books, and instead of this, I'd recommend taking Andrew Ng's ML and/or DL course and Jeremy Howard's course back to back, in whatever order that feels comfortable.

Tim Urban I was thinking about this post today, And also your post on the 'Human Collosus' (I used to love how your articles crystalised many of my own thoughts into a more coherent well-thought out picture, like our collective intelligence being an entity in itself)

"With the era of mass communication upon us, the collective human organism—the Human Colossus—rose into existence" It's just a silly stick figure, but funnily enough, I found it thrilling (after reading that sentence) in Tim Urban's article that introduced the Human Colossus.

NTI Drew Goins Hey NTI care to think and talk about Pak nukes at times as well? It might be old news for you, but allow me to remind you what's the scenario here: It's a quasi-failed country, dependent on foreign aid, that has a declared policy of using nukes on the battlefield, and if

vitrupo Sam Altman don't really agree. The base model should be knowledgeable (and hence large) enough to mimic/simulate wisdom. In fact, it's probably essential for ensuring safety (so that the model knows at least enough to tell obviously right from wrong) cc: Greg Brockman Noam Brown Jakub Pachocki

When work becomes optional, and there's abundant capital available, I guess humans can increase the dial of Exploration (particularly scientific) in terms of time and investment, now that basic survival would be taken care of?

vitrupo Sorry, but only shallow thinkers might ask that. Consciousness isn't necessarily correlated to intelligence. Most animals, like say my dog is almost certainly conscious but would score a zero on all LLM benchmarks. The AGI that Demis Hassabis Dario Amodei Sam Altman Igor Babuschkin Ilya Sutskever

vitrupo The worst thing about the whole OpenAI Sam Altman firing thing is that one doesn't get to listen to Ilya Sutskever on podcasts and interviews more often. I loved his clarity of thought, and I really want to know his opinions about a variety of AI/AGI topics and trends as of 2025.
