Back to school kickoff with our teachers today! Our theme this year is "This is me" from The Greatest Showman. Reflecting on our "why" and how it relates to making sure every student feels like they belong. For a little fun and competition we added some carnival games!

Now this is engagement!

When a student walks into your classroom, plops down in the chair, and puts their head on their desk, please do not think: “disrespectful student.” Consider this: “What does this child need?” #TeachBetter

That school where staff & admin see themselves as members of one cohesive team & everyone is there for one another is quite a different place from that school where everyone works in isolation from one another with tension and hostility in the air...PRINCIPAL LEADERSHIP MATTERS!

I have found that the more I greet students in the hallway, the more they make eye contact with me... and the more they initiate a greeting with me the next day. It’s usually not hard to make connections with kids... but the adults need to be willing to take the first step.

Positive leaders don't lead in a sea of tranquility but through storms of adversity. That's why optimism, belief and faith are essential.
