We believe that every person should have the right to make their own decisions about their body, health, and future. Access to free, safe, legal, and local abortion care is a fundamental human right, and denying it is a violation of human dignity and reproductive justice.

Justyna has expressed no guilt for helping, nor should she. “I am still going to help women. I don’t feel guilty. On the contrary, the sentence has made me feel I did the right thing.”

“My own abortion was a breakthrough for me. I wouldn’t want to live in a world in which any woman is deprived of access to reliable information and simple human support. This has been my motivation in my activism, in my work.

For me this trial is symbolically for anyone who ever provided support to a person in need. I feel I do not stand here alone. My friends have my back, but so do hundreds of women whom I haven’t yet had the chance to meet."

I can’t begin to tell you how exhausting it is for reporters to ask to speak to abortion storytellers and then not want to report their stories because they don’t fit their imagined caricature of someone having an abortion in some tragedy porn situation.

Some storytellers are dissuaded from sharing because their story isn’t “compelling enough” which then makes people who have experiences just like them unable to see their very real and normal experience reflected. It’s okay to have a diversity of stories—it’s important even!
