I'm gonna explain to y'all why Britain considers 78°F/25°C hot. I know hot because I grew up in Texas and spent half my life in Las Vegas. So I am absolutely qualified to explain this to the rest of you who laugh at UK "heat waves".

It's good seeing this build back in use after 14 years of dereliction. Sad that every subsequent rental scheme has frozen or been abandoned and there is nothing else progressing through the pipeline after here, Pitt St, and Candleriggs all complete this summer

Planning application submitted to turn the upper floors of 114 Union Street from offices into 13 flats. Permission was granted recently for 6 flats in the building on the corner of Buchanan and Gordon St, so beginning to see a few of these conversions

The 'empty quadrant' is one of the most replicated findings in housing research. There expensive cities that don't build. There are cheap cities that do build. And there are no cities that build lots of housing and still see very high housing costs.

Hopefully we see some progress with the new owners. I know Get Living blamed rent controls for why they didn't Get Building but I'm not convinced they would have done anyway. They got planning permission for 2 separate schemes on that site and didn't start either of them

The outrage here isn't that GCC aren't spending millions they don't have to build some middle class NIMBYs their own wee park, but that 100 new city centre flats were held up for 15 MONTHS by ScotGov calling the app in and then sitting on their arses before deciding to allow it

Was hoping the Charing X tower would be the first thing up for the Planning Applications Committee returning after the summer break, but this one is pretty cool too

how every region could be paying less for electricity than they do now (and Scotland could have the cheapest electricity in Europe)

Octopus Energy (@octopusenergy) 's Twitter Profile Photo

One way to help fix energy prices for good: regional pricing. Greg’s made headlines saying it could give Scotland the cheapest power in Europe (and be better nationwide). So, how it work, and how could it save £2b a year on all our bills? octo.ps/3Mgw4NE

one of the avenues I've been looking forward to most. What a massive improvement to the pedestrian experience this'll be

Some fantastic names in the 1st round of the Scottish Cup this afternoon but Dundonald Bluebell v Inverurie Loco Works might be the pick of the lot (though a case to made for Forres Mechanics v Jeanfield Swifts or Gala Fairydean v Banks O'Dee too)
