M20: A driver’s been jailed for 9 yrs 9 months for killing an elderly man on the M20 who’d got out of his broken-down car with its hazard lights on. Ionut Bejan (23) was using WhatsApp on his phone before his overloaded van hit Zdzislaw Tarbaj (71) around 10.17pm on 14 Feb 2025.

FOLKESTONE man, Stephen Sussams (62), from Biggins Wood Rd, has been jailed for 2½ years after trying to meet a boy for sex. Sussams repeatedly asked the teen for indecent images and described sexual acts he hoped to carry out if they met. He was arrested and charged on July 4.

BELVEDERE: Unconfirmed report of two males attacking a third by the railway station about 5.20pm today. Victim was reportedly hit with an iron bar. One of the attackers reportedly pulled out a large ‘zombie’ knife. The victim fled into the station. All aged in their ‘late teens’.

FOLKESTONE: Unconfirmed report of a fight, at or outside, Churchill’s Club in Harbour Way last night. Sand has reportedly been used to cover a large amount of blood in the road outside the snooker bar.

THAMESMEAD: A boy (17) is critically ill after being hit by a car in the carpark of Gallions Health Centre, Bentham Rd, 8pm last night (Sunday). Another boy (16) was arrested on suspicion of causing injury by dangerous driving, not having insurance or a license and vehicle theft.

FOLKESTONE update: An arsonist who set fire to 7 vehicles in one night — including a campervan with an occupant inside asleep — has been jailed for 5 years 3 months. Michael Harragan (55) of Gladstone Rd Folkestone, had been charged with arson and reckless arson endangering life.

HEXTABLE: A suspected wartime mortar shell was found during excavation work on Top Dartford Lane near Puddledock Lane at Hextable near Dartford around 11am this morning. Some people were evacuated before a bomb disposal team arrived to dispose of the device.

A2 EBBSFLEET: There was a serious crash on the A2 coastbound between Ebbsfleet and Gravesend around 5.20am this morning. A black BMW and two other cars were involved. One person was cut from the wreckage by firefighters. The road has stayed closed for a Kent Police investigation.

M20: Due to a serious crash between J9 (Ashford) and J8 (Maidstone) Londonbound, the M20 is closed for a Police investigation. An air ambulance is believed to has taken one casualty to a London hospital.

M20 update: A man in his 30s died when the black Nissan Qashqai he was driving was severely crushed between a lorry behind it, and HGV in front of it. The lorry driver was flown to hospital with serious injuries. The crash happened about 8.27am this morning Londonbound, J9 to J8.
