Due to changes to access to the Danforth Campus, the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum is closed to the public today. The public opening of 'Slingshot: MFA in Visual Art Thesis Exhibition,' originally scheduled for the evening of Friday, May 3, is postponed.

In, 'Sky View {(For wonder) 'Snap'}' (2023), now on view in the exhibition 'Kahlil Robert Irving: Archaeology of the Present,' Irving places videos of the sky and the city street side by side to bring the idealism of the sky down to the practicality of concrete.

On Mon (5/6) @ 5:30 pm, hear author Timothy Morton discuss 'Hell: In Search of a Christian Ecology,' a talk on the relationship between religion and ecology in response to the climate crisis.

Join us on Fri (5/3) for the opening of 'Slingshot: 2024 MFA in Visual Art Thesis Exhibition.'

The exhibition features thesis projects by the MFA in Visual Art candidates in the 2024 graduating class of Sam Fox School at WashU's Graduate School of Art. Congratulations to the candidates!

On what would be his 120th birthday, we're celebrating Abstract Expressionist Willem de Kooning, whose painting 'Saturday Night' (1956) in our permanent collection is currently on view in the Kemper Gallery.

'Adam Pendleton: To Divide By,' is now available in the Museum shop!

Published in conjunction with his exhibition last fall, this book is a critical investigation of artist Adam Pendleton's deep engagement with abstraction.

This artwork by Andrea Bowers, 'Let Us Feel Heartbreak (Quote by Deena Metzger; Bird: Maui Akepa, Declared Extinct October 2021), from the series Eco Grief Extinction' (2022), now on view, is a reminder of both the beauty and fragility of life on Earth.

Sumner High School StudioLab community engagement interns visited the Museum to explore how artists, including Ai Weiwei, Kehinde Wiley, and Rashid Johnson, tell their stories and the stories of others.

On this day in 1506, Pope Julius II placed the first stone of St. Peter's Basilica, today an icon of Renaissance architecture. The Museum has two 16th c. engravings of the Basilica in our permanent collection, by Ambrogio Brambilla and Etienne Dupérac respectively.

Take advantage of the beautiful spring weather and come see Christine Corday's 'NOVAE' (2017), from the series 'Protoist,' now on view outside the Museum. After a rainy installation, 'NOVAE' is basking in the sun!

Only two days left to see 'The Body in Pieces' before it closes tomorrow evening! The dynamic exhibition explores how artists working in the 20th century used the fragmentation of the human body to express and navigate their anxieties about modernity.
