Thanks to Dave Bender of BW Feed & Supply for the tour of their fabulous feed mill today. It’s a million dollar view from the top overlooking Perth County and Waterloo Region.

I love giving our non-farm student employees these unique experiences. He comes back after the ride/road trip and declares, “that was so cool!” Mission accomplished!

Thrilled to see Farm & Food Care Ontario win the prestigious Minister’s award today in the Excellence in Agriculture awards presented at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair. This type of recognition for our work is so humbling and gratifying.

A wander through Guelph’s historic Woodlawn cemetery yesterday turned up this sign and grave which was so fitting for Remembrance Day. Col. John McCrae is one of the city’s most famous sons, writing the poem “In Flanders Fields” in 1915. He’s buried in Belgium.

I’ll remember Dwight Foster as a remarkable man and industry giant (literally & figuratively). Devoted family man, farmer, friend, and community supporter; always welcoming guests to the farm. I'll miss his generous spirit and our visits. (2018 Breakfast on the Farm 2500 guests)

Attending the 60th anniversary annual meeting of Ontario Dairy this week. Visits with terrific people, an agenda of great speakers and, of course, an unrivalled cheese buffet at the opening reception.

Thanks Alltech for the invitation to attend Canada’s premier showing of World Without Cows last night. The movie is first class, telling an important story on sustainability. Great to see so many Farm & Food Care Ontario members there and hear from an industry panel. Terrific evening.

Today marks 20 years since my first day at Farm & Food Care ( then called the Ontario Farm Animal Council) and what a ride it has been. Thanks to everyone who has shared the journey - farmers, friends, colleagues and great coworkers and board. This truly is a dream career.

Hi all - I am trying to help an American ag journalist find sources for a story on how machinery or ag technology could be affected by tariffs. Great chance to tell Canadian perspective. Message me if you can help.

Grocery shopping feels very patriotic these days. I love the Maple leaf logos and displays featuring so many items including Ontario Apples and Chapman's Ice Cream. It really is easy to shop local and buy Canadian. #loveonfood

Cool moment last night when Niagara Falls was lit up in blue and yellow to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Get Cracking. Looking forward to the next two days spent with Ontario’s egg farmers.

Just watched the leadership debate and think Canadians are lucky to have so many smart passionate people eager to lead this country. Also, Steve Paikin was a great choice for moderator. So composed and well spoken.

Line ups out the door in Guelph this morning for advanced voting. I think that’s a great sign and hope it’s a positive sign for strong voter turnout overall.

Random non-ag post: this leather tannery in Morocco dates to the 14th century and uses all natural products for colouring like mint, turmeric and poppies. The white? A combo of lime and pigeon poop. Watching men jump in and out of vats of dye and thinking how hard the job is.
