I’ve just started reading 📖 The Art of Growing Up by John Marsden. He makes some bold statements about parenting strategies that, as a teacher, seem to make sense to me. I’m not a parent though so can’t comment from that position. Worth a read, teacher-friends.

A3: It’s tough in secondary schools! From what I’ve seen, govt schools are better at organising job share, so you can work a few days a week. In independent schools, I’ve seen Ts on a pt loading attend classes everyday, making organising care for kids difficult #AussieEd #WomenEd

A6: I would like to see more women making important decisions in schools. And for the students to see it too #AussieEd #WomenEd

30. All school leaders should teach at least one class for a year at least every three years. Principals, directors of studies, etc. Remember what being a teacher is like.

Sometimes #innovation in schools appears to be only happening in Science and Maths (STEM) classrooms. Who is being innovative in their English classrooms? #teamenglishOZ I’m looking for inspiration.

My Yr8 History students are struggling to understand the origin and purpose of Primary Sources as they are looking at images online of them, rather than actual artefacts. Any suggestions? History Skills #historyskills #historyteacher

Today Year 7 History students cracked the riddle of the sphinx to investigate Ancient Egypt. A great time was had by all! #breakoutedu #year7history #edutwitter

I’ve already grabbed a ticket for Stories Beneath the Clock Tower to hear some of my fave authors read from their most loved books. Raising funds for the Australian Red Cross. avidreader.com.au/events/fundrai…

I’m crying with laughter and sadness while reading Gabbie Stroud’s ‘Dear Parents’. Such a well-crafted insight into the world of #teachers, the love they have for their students, and the struggles they face. I just hope that the parents that need to read it the most will!
