Twitter is weird. Saw a Tulsi Tweet this morning (a college friend, Dan McLaughlin, had shared & replied), one comment stuck out: that we should’ve bombed Japan sooner. I observed that we literally couldn’t…and so to the reply-er, I am now an anti-American troll. Again, weird.

RIP to the great Tom Lehrer, age 97, whose “Songs by Tom Lehrer” my dad acquired in his youth, and which my brothers and I listened to all the time. “Fight Fiercely Harvard” was my favorite for obvious reasons. m.youtube.com/watch?v=27PSHA… Mark Schipper - 5th Down CFB

Very cool news segment from yesterday about my friend of 20-plus years, Julie Justison, and the greeting card company she founded, Sweaty Ponytales, geared towards runners. Check it out! m.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZJrPO…

The two most American things are college football, and small-town parades. Sine Northwestern Football gave me no highlights today, I’ll share the parade I went to in Arcadia, IA this afternoon, celebrating the 150th anniversary of St. John’s Catholic Church (my late mother-in-law’s home).

One month until the appearance of my next masterpiece, “Eckie: Walter Eckersall and the Rise of Chicago Sports.” See the attached flyer for more details (and a discount code if you’re looking for a great deal on a great tale from sports history).

Wow, 10 years?! I remember Mike Hankwitz’s D making Christian McCaffrey look pretty pedestrian; in fact, we may have cost him the Heisman that year. Stanford would finish the season ranked #3; we ended up 10-3 but ranked #22 due to a woeful Outback Bowl, great season nonetheless.
