Half of my research process is me looking at my notes and going ‘Gosh, allos and neurotypicals are so INTERESTING! Just look at their funny little patterns!’ like a medievalist Bob Ross

Russia has a hunger plan. Vladimir Putin is preparing to starve much of the developing world as the next stage in his war in Europe. 1/16

Twitter: Wow! #LongCovid research shows that executive dysfunction is REAL and BIOLOGICALLY BASED, not just in our heads! Me, having been told for 20+ years that my ADHD symptoms make me inconsiderate/irresponsible and I just need more willpower:

today someone told me how in 2019 they did a show at the #edfringe and their flat cost £4.5K for the month. this year, that same flat costs £12K. honestly cannot believe what is happening.

Regarding *That Chronicle Take*: yes, I DO fact treat my academic career on here the same way I treat my dating profile—which is to say, I don’t have one.

Imagine making a quip about Versailles & its legacy of insular privilege, only to turn around a few lines later & marvel at the lovely mind-holiday you had LARPing as a sick person. This refuse reads like ‘Marie Antoinette’-meets-‘first entry in an undergrad study abroad blog’.

Saying this gently and with care and understanding. Sincerely. But people with Long COVID are not the first people to incur illness and become disabled as a result of failure of policy and state negligence. Also not the first disabled people to not be believed.

Reminder to all my friends on meds rn to (re)read the side effect lists. Many Rx’s can have effects (photosensitivity, dehydration, body temp dysregulation) that make you more susceptible to heat-related illness. Stay safe, be well, avoid the overcrowded hellhole that is A&E!

At 1400+ likes and 60+ retweets, I’m officially using this Tweet to justify adding ‘social media engagement’ to my skills and experience section of any application from here on out 😂

UK folks: please be extra nice to food service workers rn. They don’t control the weather or what time you show up…& I can assure you that you’re not the only genius who’s had the idea to get a frappe or gelato. —from your friendly former neighbourhood froyo shop employee

I really wish the world would let go of the myth that truly talented, visionary, passionate people are all 24/7 laser-focused on their work to the detriment of every other aspect of life and their physical and mental well-being.

To my fellow #ADHD folks & 'chaotic' writers, I can't recommend Scapple highly enough. I know everybody has different preferences/tricks, but for me it's been absolutely revolutionary to be able to type note-thoughts in all spatial directions & move them as necessary!!

You know you have anxiety when: The most freeing part of Focus Mode in MS Word is how it hides the word count so you don’t panic over how much you’ve done or have left to do

Look I know my thesis is not about reception but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t tempted to mention in this chapter how the Heroes’ Feast features in DnD 5e align with scholars’ ideas on how feasts connected the material to the ideological in early medieval homosocial contexts

With the ‘by age 30 you should…’ meme going round, I am happy to report that I could not be arsed to stay awake the extra 20 minutes to ring in my 31st birthday today and I am currently on the couch with my heating pad surrounded by mad-scientist piles of PhD chapter notes

Figuring out the research process as an ND PhD student is just you & your supervisors going ‘Wait THAT’S what you meant? Well why didn’t you just say so?!’ to each other, simultaneously, over & over, until you either viva or die (no-one ever thinks to call ‘jinx’) 😂

In starting to (finally) play Dungeons and Dragons, one thing I’ve learned is that I’m actually an EXCELLENT strategist. Turns out that what manifests as anxiety and trying to anticipate every possible outcome IRL makes for really good prep in gameplay?
