As one of the few Black journalists at Civic News Company, it feels demoralizing to work at a place where there is a clear mismatch between value & practice. The only people that have my back is my union b/c they always fight for me and the contract proposals prove it. #1u

I’m no longer there but as a founding member of this union, I know how important it is to make sure workers’ concerns are heard in management decisions. Cheering on my Civic News Guild colleagues in their pursuit of a new contract (and their demands are super reasonable too!)
