Last day of KCS_EPP June Intensive! Judy Siebert praised the teachers’ engagement this week despite them being on ‘summer break’ 💚 She made learning fun for them with group projects, useful planning ahead for the school year & a little bunting practice ⚾️

Not only are our new KCS_EPP candidates gearing up for the school year this week, so are their mentors and supporting school administrators. Bob Stokes from SREB is phenomenally leading this training. Thanks to Bearden HS for hosting!

Collaboration is key when you run a program that is very unique! Lynn Brown from Wilson Co Schools & Janet Flannery from RutherfordTeachNow are my great thought partners when it comes to our LEA-based EPPs! It was very productive to connect in person on Tuesday. KCS_EPP

Our KCS_EPP coaching visits are starting: Ms Shular (Health Sc) & Ms Campbell (Marketing) at Central HS reviewed for a first quizz & worked on careers. Mr Hicks (Comp Sc) prepped his students for coding iterations & Ms Pipkin (Health Sc) dove into life stages at Bearden HS.

A very productive day!!

Went to 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡-𝐃𝐨𝐲𝐥𝐞 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 and Austin-East HS for KCS_EPP coaching visits yesterday: Ms Rhodes’ students formed muscle strands, Mr Henry’s showed me their Fair piece 👏🏻Mr Huettel’s kids run the school store & Mr Ellis taught knife safety for Cul Arts 😊

Not only is the weather wild in Knoxville today ☔️, Cohort 4 also has its EPP Learning Day and they are really bringing engagement to the table! 😄 Groups are presenting abt Educational & Behavioral Theorists and candidates dive deeper into assessment practices.⚡️⛈️

EPP Instructor Judy Siebert conducted recent coaching visits to our Cohort 4 & 5 candidates in Jefferson Co Schools and at Karns HS: While the newest teachers are showing good teaching skills already, our year 2 teachers show tremendous growth! We are very proud of all of them!!

This week, EPP Instructor Judy Siebert also went almost to Kentucky for a coaching visit 😄: Ms Greene teaches Cosmetology at Cumberland Gap HS. ✂️ Judy also saw Mr Skeans (CJ) & Mr Baird (Carpentry) at Campbell Co HS.

At today’s KCS_EPP coaching visit: Morgan Co CTE had the Be Pro Be Proud Tennessee truck there for kids to explore simulated trades. Saw Mr Smith, Ms Kidd & Ms Walker there 😊 Then on to Dr No in Oak Ridge-good to see the SCRUM method still being used!

Last Friday, an KCS_EPP coaching visit took me to Grainger and Union Counties. Mr Cornett assessed fillet welds🔥, Mr Hodge taught measurements via making cinnamon buns😋, Ms Sexton playfully reviewed for a quiz next week, and Ms Holmes had a bone scavenger hunt 🦴

Congratulations, Ulla! The Knox County Schools Educator Preparation Program (KCS_EPP) is a valuable pipeline for our new CTE teachers to find their way into the classroom and to be successful!

I was in Anderson Co Schools for KCS_EPP coaching visits yesterday, observing Ms Hutchins in Crim Justice 👮🏼, Mr Hagen in Digital Arts 📸 and Ms Robinson in Health Science 🧫. Now in their 2nd year with the EPP, their growth as teaching professionals is evident!! Great job! 👏🏻

Yesterday’s KCS_EPP coaching visits to Hamblen Co Schools: 1st & 2nd yr CTE instructors teach students valuable career skills in Health Science (Ms Barnett), Culinary (Ms Lamb), Cosmetology (Ms Bennett), Construction (Mr Clark) & Comp Science (Mr Waddell)!

Red McMahan, an AV Production teacher at Karns HS and candidate in our Cohort 5, was given the Karns “Lifelong Learner” award at a recent staff training, “exemplifying a daily positive attitude & eagerness to motivate colleagues and students.” Congrats, Red!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Knox County CTE

Today’s KCS_EPP coaching visits took me to beautiful Blount Co. Ms Alexander assessed her students’ 9 part sectioning & perm ✂️, Mr McMurray’s students built a prop house for Theatre 🏠, and Chef Sutton’s kids made pizza dough-to be covered & baked tomorrow 😋

Lenoir City & Loudon Co HSs have 2 new instructors in our KCS_EPP: Mr Murphy teaches Business & is preparing his students to open a school store. Mr Boyd‘s Digi Arts class produces the daily announcements & started learning abt photoshop today. LenoirCitySch LoudonCounty Schools

It was a beautiful day for a drive to Cocke County and Alcoa for KCS_EPP coaching visits. Mr Huffhines 📐practiced correct measuring, Ms Owen’s students calculated profits💰, and Ms Dills 🚑showed hers how to use an AED properly. Cocke Co. Schools CTE_Patty

At today’s KCS_EPP coaching visit to SDHS & AE: Ms Rhodes going over ❤️rhythms, Mr Henry models proper sanding of a 🚙, Mr Huettel’s students check their store’s inventory 🧁 & Mr Ellis prepares his for making 🥗 dressings. Hard to motivate students sometimes but hands-on helps!
