Adults in schools, If kids feel: Safe to make mistakes Known as a person Like they belong... They tend to act: Motivated to learn Engaged in the process Eager to receive feedback. Young kids typically don't like to learn from an old adult who they think doesn't like them.

We can get frustrated with our learners at times when we aren't getting the lifting of learning out of them we expect. Knowing how Cognitive Load works can help you design more effective learning. Often the learning in the room is only as effective as our design for it.

What's the goal of what we do in the classroom? It's not to get the kids to know the stuff we're teaching. It's to get the kids to take the learning inthe classroom & use it anywhere long after they've left us. Learning is the job. Design for it to happen.

High growth is better than high achievement. Some students come to us already high achievers. That's why our focus needs to be to grow all kids. The low achieving & the high achieving. Grow them all.

Classroom management is about managing yourself and how you respond to students. After all, you can only control yourself. You can't control other people. #classroommanagement #thatonekid

We teach math and science by modeling; why do we punish when students don’t know positive behavior? We must teach behaviors intentionally, modeling and practicing them just as we do academic skills.
