You can do many things as an adult in the US and in Idaho. But with this bill you cannot request your own birth record until you are 40.

My favorite part of the project is the stories from the classroom. Sarah Schwartz, Arianna Prothero, Ileana Najarro, Elizabeth Heubeck, Kaylee Domzalski 이은아, and I all spent the day with teachers from across the country, capturing their highs and lows. edweek.org/teaching-learn…

Hi. I just want to talk a bit about Education Week 's new State of Teaching project, a big investment in deepening how we cover an essential profession. There's stuff here for teachers, of course, but also school leaders, media, and policy types 1/n edweek.org/the-state-of-t…

We've got some great journalism, from videos featuring teachers' voices, an on-the-ground look reporter from five states, and deep dives into one state's struggle to hang onto teachers and the touch-and-go state of being a new hire .... 5/n edweek.org/teaching-learn…

A few weeks ago, when the NYT reported on a new study suggesting that OR was an outlier in its students not even starting to make up for ground lost during the pandemic, people wanted to know how we got here. I tried to answer in today's The Oregonian:

Giving adopted people the right to access to our own identity documents without discriminatory restrictions does not put anyone at risk & claiming it does—against decades of evidence proving otherwise—perpetuates harmful cultural stereotypes about us.

the whiplash of 100 layoffs at lat following a strike where they were locked out of email while conde is on strike bc of the threat of 100 layoffs and now locked out of email after pitchfork layoffs and sports illo layoffs and baltimore buyout and we’re only in january

This is wholly unsustainable and what layoffs effectively do is push marginalized reporters out of the industry for good.

We desperately need more journalists dedicated to covering AAPI communities — not less.

To say this is an incredible loss to the LAT is an understatement. Jeong’s stories and reporting had national impact.

journalists and the public deserve more than just vague promises of stability and fleeting knee-jerk investments. owning and running a news outlet should be about more than a balance sheet of profits and losses. news shouldn't only be for the rich.
