It's June and I'm already making dinner/lunch reservations with an itenerary for my vacation at the END of July 😭 Does anyone else do this?

I met a 78 year old man who recently started sleeping at a park I take supplies to. He broke his back working construction. When he got out of the hospital, he had been evicted. A lifetime of his belongings had been thrown away by his landlord. Homelessness is that easy.

Well if nothing else the Supreme Court ruling is gonna humble some white and Asian students when they find out they still didn’t get in to their dream school and it wasn’t the fault of already underrepresented Black applicants.

Let’s talk about Black physicians (5% of all physicians). We have statistically lower MCAT and Step scores. However, Black physicians taking care of Black patients decreases mortality. If we let less Black applicants into medical school, more patients will die. Period.

Intern year was one of the worst years of my life. I struggled with depression, loneliness, and hopelessness throughout the year. My mental health often took the hardest hit was when rotating outside of the ED. A thread. #Medtwitter TW: physiciansuicide, depression.

I’m officially in my “Let them” journey. I don’t have the capacity to take anything personal anymore. If people want to show up. Let them. If people want to ghost. Let them. They wanna sleep on me. Let them. My path is only open for people who genuinely want to be here.

Some of these country paramedics will look dead at my badge and call me “Ms. Katrina” to which I respond, “No sweetie, it’s DOCTOR Gipson.” #TryJesusNotMe

Toni I used this to refer to them endearingly when I was proud of them or to protect them from gremlins who’d be yelling at them for making intern level mistakes. E.g “Please don’t yell at my intern/student, they’re learning” — sad there are monsters out there misusing “my” this way.

Dear house of medicine, Happy (academic) new year. Here’s your annual paycut. This one will bring you to a total 23% decrease since that whole “pandemic” thing. Love, The US Government PS: We have shortage of healthcare workers and deep health access issues in this country.
