Excitingly the criteria my university are going to use to decide who is made redundant actively punishes those who have been successful in securing external funding buyout, those with responsibility for research leadership, and those who publish. So our whole REF submission 🤪

Thinking about how many requests we get from tv production companies, and how many we have to decline because we have no-one with expertise in that area, or indeed, 'we used to have a historian with expertise in that topic, but they were made redundant/the course was dropped...'

this looks like a vital project in social history too.

This is why humanities research that isn't focussed on extremely recent time frames is disapearing institutionally. 'How does England feed itself' seems like it's pretty damn relevant, but since it doesn't have immediate policy implications and is the past, it's somehow woke.
